Packers: Three veterans who are safe after the draft

The young wide receivers
When the Packers let Randall Cobb walk this offseason, many believed wide receiver would be high on the priority list for the Packers. With an extra first-round pick, it was a prime position to draft his replacement and still be able to fill other high-end needs. The draft came and went and not a single wide receiver was drafted.
That should make the trio of J’Mon Moore, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Equanimeous St. Brown feel good the team has confidence in their abilities. The same can be said for Jake Kumerow.
Moore barely played and admitted he wasn’t where he should be mentally with the Packers playbook. MVS came on strong but faded late, while St. Brown finished strong but was injured in the Jets game and wasn’t able to put the finishing touches on his rookie campaign. Kumerow had to wait till late in the year to even get his season started due to a preseason injury on an errant dive into the end zone.
Three of the four had bright moments, while Moore was left playing catchup.
That doesn’t matter now, as with a new head coach and new offense, all four of these players are now on equal ground.
Davante Adams is the only sure bet at receiver. Geronimo Allison is a good bet but not guaranteed anything in terms of his role on the team. That leaves those four plus Allison to battle it out for the number two receiver spot.
