7. Mason Crosby, Kicker

Not often has Mason Crosby been under some pressure when training camp got underway. But even if Crosby is the comfortable favorite to win the training camp competition with Sam Ficken, the fact Ficken is even on the roster shows that Crosby needs to play well this summer.

This isn’t an unfamiliar situation for Crosby, however. He had competition in 2013 after a career-worst 2012 season. That year, Crosby converted just 63.6 percent of his field goal attempts, missing 12 field goals all season.

But the competition was no problem, as Crosby bounced back and finished the 2013 season with a career-best 89.2 percent on field goals. Maybe it is with competition that helps Crosby play at his best.

Crosby has been so consistent through the years for the Packers. No matter how tough the conditions late in the year, he’s made key kicks more often than not.

But that’s in the past, and after a couple of bad performances last season, the Packers are ensuring there is a competition for the job at training camp.

If Crosby is at his best, the job will almost certainly be his. But he’ll need to play well at training camp this summer to win the competition with Ficken.
