5. Trevor Davis, Wide Receiver

But Kumerow will have competition from the other wide receivers on the roster. One of them is Trevor Davis, who could be a surprise selection for a spot on the 53-man roster if he can play well over the summer.

Davis should be considered for a roster spot based on his special teams work alone. There needs to be improvements from Green Bay on special teams this year, and Davis’ work as a returner should make him a candidate, especially without many other obvious choices for the role.

But interestingly, Davis may finally be about to earn consistent regular season snaps on offense.

Head coach Matt LaFleur said that he’s “really impressed with him”, according to Wes Hodkiewicz of Packers.com. The question now is whether Davis can build on that, show an understanding of LaFleur’s offense and get on the same page as Aaron Rodgers. If those things happen, it might be difficult to not keep him on the 53-man roster, especially when you add in his importance on special teams.

Competition is great, and that’s what the Green Bay Packers have at wide receiver. Davis is a player to watch — can he secure a spot on the roster and a bigger role on offense?
