Jaire Alexander

After an impressive rookie season, would Jaire Alexander be able to take the next step towards becoming an elite cornerback? The answer is yes. Alexander has been dominant.

No player in the NFL has more passes defended than Alexander, who has 11, and he also has an interception and a forced fumble. The latter may go down as one of the Packers’ best plays of 2019. Noah Fant made the reception for the Broncos, but Alexander didn’t want to just make a tackle, he took the ball and forced a turnover.

Alexander has also had some shutdown performances this season, including when matched up against Emmanuel Sanders in Week 3. Alexander didn’t give up a single catch to Sanders, according to Jeff Ratcliffe of Pro Football Focus.

Together, Alexander and Kevin King have formed one of the league’s best cornerback duos in 2019. Both have been consistent and regularly make game-changing plays.

If Alexander can continue to play this well in the second half of the season, it would be a shock if he’s not selected to the Pro Bowl. And he could also be an All-Pro for the first time.

Green Bay’s pass rush has improved this season. While Za’Darius and Preston Smith have been dominant, the secondary also deserves a lot of credit for that. Alexander is key to the success of this defense.
