Play with a point to prove

Aaron Rodgers admitted postgame last week that the Packers had been “starting to listen to the chatter maybe a little too much”, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN. The loss may prove to be a reality check that they need to take every game seriously. Unfortunately, the defeat may ultimately cost them in the race for home-field advantage in the playoffs.

Great teams respond to a performance like last week’s with an emphatic win. That’s what the Packers need to do. Play with a point to prove to show last week’s game was a one-off and that they’ve learned from it.

If they come out and play in a similar way, make simple mistakes and look out of sync, it’ll be a concern. This is a home game against another NFC playoff contender. And with the Minnesota Vikings only one game behind in the NFC North race, the Packers can’t afford to lose two in a row.

Can Matt LaFleur lift his team from last week’s loss and get the perfect response at home against the Panthers? It’s the challenge facing this team.

If the Packers come out on Sunday and play to their best, determined to make up for last week, I have no doubt they’ll win the game.
