Packers: Three keys for victory vs. Giants in Week 13
1. Pass to win
The Giants defense struggles against both the pass and the run, but the Packers can take the game away from the Giants through the air. New York ranks 26th in passing defense, allowing 260 yards per game.
The Giants also rank 26th in passer rating allowed. Opposing quarterbacks have a passer rating of 99.5 per game against their defense.
Green Bay’s passing offense can also help play a little defense. New York’s best chance to win this game is to keep it low scoring and lean on superstar running back Saquon Barkley. But if the Packers can score quickly and build an early lead, they’ll have less to worry about in run defense and allow Za’Darius Smith and Preston Smith to do what they do best, which is rush the quarterback.
Earlier this week, Aaron Rodgers said he’s “got to take the lead and get hot in December,” according to Mike Spofford of Packers.com. This is the perfect game to step up and put in a vintage Rodgers performance.
The defense will need to play their part. They’ll need to shut down the run, which won’t be easy up against Barkley.
But if the Packers can find some success through the air, the Giants will struggle to keep up.
