Mason Crosby

A lot was said and written about Mason Crosby‘s performance against the Detroit Lions last season when he missed five kicks. Not as much has been said ever since. Crosby responded from that performance with nothing but consistency, and the Packers currently have one of the best kicking situations in the NFL. And Packers fans shouldn’t take that for granted.

Since his tough day in Detroit, Crosby has been close to perfect. He has attempted 38 field goals since, converting 35 of them, which works out at just over 92 percent. That includes two game-winning kicks as time expired. He’s been perfect on extra-point attempts, converting all 61 kicks.

He’s made kicks in the rain, in the wind and the snow. Kicking in Green Bay isn’t easy, but Crosby has made it look that way for many years.

Crosby will become a free agent in the offseason, and considering how many teams have had issues at the kicker position this season, they will all be hoping he makes it to free agency. The Packers need to be willing to pay Crosby whatever it takes. He is so important to this team and has been one of the most overlooked players on the roster for some time.

Replacing Crosby would be close to impossible. Gutekunst should offer him a new deal very soon.
