Packers: Top five players from NFC North-clinching win vs. Vikings
By Jesse Fry
4. Kevin King
One player who has caught the ire of Packers fans everywhere is Kevin King. Most of it, being, to be honest I’d say 90 percent, is unwarranted. Many Packers fans, especially those from Wisconsin, are still upset T.J. Watt was passed over by the Packers for King. It’s time to get over it and stop with the vitriol towards King and start embracing the player he has become. King is leading the Packers in interceptions with five on the season.
To that end, many will blame King for Stefon Diggs‘ 28-yard reception on a third down and 18. The camera crew was the first to catch Diggs matched up against King. But the truth is, King did what he was supposed to, which was jamming the receiver before falling into his spot in cover two coverage. The reality of that matter happened just a few plays later when King read and diagnosed the play, realized he didn’t have a man to cover and made a bee-line for the ball and came away with a back-breaking interception.
Kevin King and Jaire Alexander are as solid of a cornerback tandem there is in the NFL, and it’s about time Packers fans start appreciating this.
