3. Tight end

Perhaps the Packers will go for continuity by re-signing Marcedes Lewis and sticking with Jimmy Graham. It’s hard to see Graham returning, however, and Lewis’ future is also up in the air.

That leaves second-year Jace Sternberger and Robert Tonyan, assuming they re-sign Tonyan to an ERFA tender, which should be expected.

Sternberger could well be the starter in 2020 but that’s anything but a guarantee. The Packers may decide to go after one of the top tight ends in free agency.

Lombardi Ave’s Christian Borman made a case for why signing Austin Hooper would be a smart move. And it’s a possibility. The Packers were reportedly interested in trading for Hooper before the deadline during the 2019 season. And he’ll be available next month, with Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reporting that the Falcons will allow Hooper to test the market.

Sternberger, in his second season, might be the answer at tight end. But there also has to be a good possibility GM Brian Gutekunst will bring in a tight end at some point in the offseason.

Once again, there is a lot of uncertainty at the position. That’s nothing new for the Packers. Who will be the starting tight end in Week 1? That’s anybody’s guess.
