Packers 53-man roster predictions following 2020 NFL Draft
Cornerbacks (6)
Jaire Alexander, Kevin King, Chandon Sullivan, Josh Jackson, Ka’Dar Hollman, Stanford Samuels
The Packers have a young and talented group at cornerback but after not adding to the position during the draft, one option would be to re-sign Tramon Williams. Jaire Alexander ad Kevin King form a strong starting combination on the outside, although King is entering a contract year.
Undrafted free agent Stanford Samuels will be a player to watch.
Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller gave him an early third-round grade and ranked him 11th among cornerbacks ahead of the draft.
The Packers have found success with undrafted cornerbacks in the past, including Williams and Sam Shields. Could Samuels become the next?
Samuels had eight interceptions and 16 pass defenses in three seasons at Florida State.
Chandon Sullivan impressed in 2019 and could see a bigger role as the slot cornerback, especially if Williams isn’t re-signed.
If Josh Jackson can live up to his second-round potential and Ka’Dar Hollman takes a step forward, this can be a very strong cornerback group. But depth is still a concern. Re-signing Williams would help with that and he’d also bring leadership and experience to the secondary which was important last season.
