Have the Packers improved at inside linebacker? That’s not an easy question to answer. It was clear Green Bay needed to get better in the middle of the defense. If Christian Kirksey can stay healthy, he could give the Packers an upgrade at the starting position over Blake Martinez. But Kirksey has missed more games than he’s played over the past two seasons.

Oren Burks has also dealt with a few injuries in his first couple of seasons. But despite playing in 12 games last season, he was only on the field for six percent of the Packers’ defensive snaps, according to Pro Football Reference. The lack of trust from the coaching staff was a concern. But Burks is still only 25 and he was a third-round pick for a reason.

The Packers will hope fifth-round pick Kamal Martin can contribute early on and that Curtis Bolton can make a difference, returning from a torn ACL. Bolton impressed during the preseason last year before suffering a season-ending injury.

Ty Summers will provide competition at inside linebacker but I have him just missing out on the 53-man roster.

The Packers needed to get better at inside linebacker. We’ll soon see whether they’ve improved.
