Wide receivers (6)

Davante Adams, Allen Lazard, Devin Funchess, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Equanimeous St. Brown, Reggie Begelton

This position was a hot topic for most of the offseason. The Packers were in desperate need of a number two receiver all season to pair with Davante Adams. The draft was loaded with talented receivers and the Packers took none. They did, however, sign free agent Devin Funchess to add to this group. Funchess is a big-bodied receiver who could be a nice red zone threat.

Adams is the clear cut number one receiver, and Lazard had a nice breakout season once he got a chance. MVS will likely have a spot locked up along with EQ, who will be coming back after missing the entire season last year. To me, that leaves about one spot left to make it six receivers on the active roster.

I will admit, I’m falling for the Reggie Begelton hype. Begelton comes to Green Bay from the Canadian Football League. He put up huge numbers, grabbing 102 receptions for 1,444 yards and 10 touchdowns in 17 games. Even though it was the CFL, that’s still a ton of production. The 26-year-old receiver may bring something to the Packers if he can get a chance.

That would leave fan-favorite Jake Kumerow out. While Kumerow has Rodgers’ trust, he never really made a difference on a team that was in desperate need of a receiver to make some plays. Darrius Shepherd was a fan-favorite as well but made some mistakes in the return game and Ervin has effectively taken that spot for good. Undrafted rookie Darrell Stewart has some skills he put on display at Michigan State. I think he or Malik Taylor will have a shot at making the Packers’ practice squad.
