Quarterbacks (3) – 6/53

Aaron Rodgers, Tim Boyle, Jordan Love

Jordan Love might be the future at quarterback for the Packers, but the lack of an offseason program could force the team to keep three QBs on the 53-man roster. It makes even more sense given the uncertainty of the upcoming season.

Should Aaron Rodgers have to miss any time, Tim Boyle would be the right choice to step in as the backup. He is familiar with Matt LaFleur’s offense and offers more experience than Love at this point. Having some continuity in the quarterback room will help after an unusual offseason.

This also takes some pressure off Love, who has missed out on valuable practice time over the summer as a result of the pandemic. He can sit and learn from a future Hall-of-Famer, and also Boyle, who will be the top backup. Even if Love doesn’t play a single snap, learning from Rodgers and Boyle would help his development.

The Packers kept just two quarterbacks last season, but due to the offseason they’ve had and with a different training camp and no preseason to come, going with three quarterbacks in 2020 would be a smart move.

Rodgers remains the starter, of course, with Boyle as the No. 2 for this season.
