“Big Bob” Tonyan continues to play well for the Packers

Winner #2: Robert Tonyan

Robert Tonyan has truly been a gem of a find for this Green Bay Packers offense. Coming into his third year he had shown flashes and got a little better each season. However, even the biggest fan of Tonyan probably wouldn’t have predicted the production that he has shown this year.

Tonyan Leads all tight ends with seven touchdowns this season after getting his seventh on Sunday night. He also caught all five of his targets for 67 yards and was the leading receiver for Green Bay. With three young TEs in Tonyan, Josiah Deguara, and Jace Sternberger, it’s good to see one of them have a breakout year and it looks like Tonyan will be the TE of the future.

The Green Bay Packers have been desperate for production from the TE position for many years after trying with multiple players. Richard Rodgers was okay but too inconsistent, Martellus Bennett didn’t want to play here, and Jimmy Graham was just a bust of a signing.

The Packers look to be loaded at the position for several years. With Tonyan’s emergence and the development of Deguara and Sternberger, I have no doubt Green Bay is going to be in a good place at the position for many years to come.
