Getting Kenny Clark help in free agency would also be a smart move for the Packers. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported last season that the Packers tried to trade for Dalvin Tomlinson. The New York Giants weren’t willing to trade Tomlinson at the time but he is now set to hit free agency.

The Packers’ defense didn’t win up front enough last season, or in 2019 for that matter. Clark is a star defensive tackle but finding him some help should be a priority.

That’s where Tomlinson could help.

Tomlinson is an excellent run defender and he can also contribute as an interior pass rusher. He has seven sacks over the past two seasons.

The concern for the Packers is they would likely face competition from other teams to sign a player as talented as Tomlinson. Spotrac’s projections for Tomlinson’s contract is for four years averaging $11.4 million per year.

The Packers would need to find a way to make it work despite having limited salary cap room this year, but if they are going to make one big move in free agency, adding a talented defensive tackle like Tomlinson would be a good way to go. Clark and Tomlinson along the defensive line? Sign me up.
