Packers address biggest defensive concern

Chicago Bears: DT Akiem Hicks

I know what you’re thinking, what about Jimmy Graham? As tough as it was to pass up the opportunity to bring back a Green Bay Packers legend, that’ll have to wait. Instead, the Packers bring in one of the best defensive linemen in football, helping fix one of their biggest needs on defense.

This was a tough choice between Akiem Hicks and Khalil Mack. Both are superstars along the defensive line for Chicago, but in the end I’ve gone for Hicks. When factoring in where Green Bay’s defense needs the most help, Hicks could have a bigger impact than Mack.

A pairing of Hicks and Kenny Clark along the defensive line would be simply unfair for opposing offensive lines. Hicks is a former All-Pro and, in five years with the Bears, he’s made 27.5 sacks and 79 quarterback hits.

With Hicks and Clark along the defensive line with Za’Darius Smith and Rashan Gary on the edge, this would be a scary defensive front for the Packers.

Hicks has given Green Bay’s offensive line many problems over the years. Meanwhile, the Packers have desperately needed to get Clark some help at defensive tackle. Hicks would be the perfect partner for Clark and would give Joe Barry’s defense a dominant pairing along the defensive line.
