MVS has 100 yards, two touchdowns

Marquez Valdes-Scantling received a lot of praise over the summer and big things are expected of him this year. MVS was starter in the Packers’ offense last week and, while he only had three catches for 17 yards, he was the team’s most targeted wide receiver.

It’s only a matter of time before MVS has a big game, and it could come this week. The Lions’ focus will be on slowing down All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams, but it will be Valdes-Scantling hurting them deep. The NFL’s leader in yards per catch last season could be a real problem for a Lions defense that couldn’t stop anything through the air a week ago.

Adams will get his targets, but with my prediction of Rodgers throwing five touchdowns, there will be plenty of catches to be shared around in this offense.

MVS had success against the Lions’ defense in both games last season, including a 41-yard catch down the sideline in the game at Lambeau Field.

Valdes-Scantling has improved each year and after a strong training camp, looks set for a big 2021 season. The catches and yards weren’t there in Week 1, but nobody could get going on offense for the Packers. The targets were there for MVS, however, and if that continues this week, he could be in for a big night against the Lions.
