Rasul Douglas

Rasul Douglas is the reason why Green Bay hasn’t struggled at cornerback in Jaire Alexander’s absence. Isaac Yiadom would have been the next player up had Douglas not been signed, and he’s allowed a passer rating of 118.7 in his coverage, according to Pro Football Reference.

Bringing in Douglas has been every bit as important as signing De’Vondre Campbell in the summer.

Douglas has been a home-run addition for the Packers’ defense. In his coverage, he’s allowed just a 51.2 percent completion percentage and a passer rating of 60.7, according to Pro Football Reference. He came up with the game-winning interception against the Arizona Cardinals, then a crucial pick-six against the Los Angeles Rams.

When fully healthy, the Packers will have an excellent trio of cornerbacks. Jaire Alexander is an All-Pro. He plays mostly on the outside but has the skills to line up in the ‘star’ position. Douglas and Eric Stokes have been excellent on the outside.

Even when Alexander is back, Douglas can start in Joe Barry’s defense. Imagine a starting trio of Douglas and Stokes outside and Alexander in the slot. By re-signing Douglas in the offseason, this can become a reality.

He deserves a new contract after this season. Hopefully it’ll be with the Packers.
