Week 18: at Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions aren’t a good football team. With just two wins this season, that much is clear. But nobody can doubt their fight. They battle in every game and have played some good football in recent weeks.

After going winless in the opening three months of the season, Detroit is 2-2 in December and perfect at Ford Field. It also lost a close game to the Atlanta Falcons last week.

It’s a divisional game and, while the Packers are 2-0 at Ford Field under Matt LaFleur, neither game was easy. Both were one-score games, and the 2019 meeting required a last-second Mason Crosby field goal to secure the victory.

The past doesn’t mean much, of course, especially as this Lions team has a different head coach and quarterback. The Packers beat them 35-17 at Lambeau Field in Week 2.

But the Lions will show plenty of fight in this game. The same was true when they defeated the Vikings 29-27 then the Cardinals 30-12.

The Packers should win this game. It might not be as easy as most assume it will be, but in the end, the Packers’ talent should be enough to get the job done.

Green Bay closes the season out with a victory and earns a well-deserved week off and home-field advantage in the playoffs.

Prediction: Green Bay 30, Detroit 24 (14-3)
