I think the Packers are going to have to take multiple receivers this draft. Amari Rodgers, Randall Cobb (big cut candidate), and Juwann Winfree are the only receivers on the 2021 roster that are under contract heading into the 2022 season. I’m sure they will bring some players like Allen Lazard and maybe Equanimeous St. Brown back, but players like Adams and MVS might be tough to retain.

I think Alec Pierce would be a good addition for the Packers. He would give them a good number two and would even be able to play out of the slot in Matt LaFleur’s offense. Like EQ, Pierce is a bigger-bodied slot player.

He is also a sure-handed receiver. According to Joe Marino from The Draft Network, Pierce ‘catches everything.’ That’s something every team should be very interested in. Marino’s overview of Pierce really caught my eye.

"“A three-year starter, Pierce’s blend of size, speed, hands, ball skills, body control, and competitive toughness made him a dynamic playmaker for the Bearcats offense. His size, speed, and ball skills are a lethal combination down the field. His ability to track, adjust, and secure the football in traffic down the field is outstanding.”"

Something else the Packers will likely be looking for in a guy like Pierce is whether or not he can return the ball and play special teams. Pierce doesn’t have a history of returning kicks or punts, but that doesn’t mean he can’t start. With the way the Packers’ special teams played this year, it can’t hurt to try a guy like Pierce out. It couldn’t be any worse than what it was in 2021.
