Packers: 3 Aaron Rodgers trade destinations in 2022 offseason
Philadelphia Eagles
The downside for the Packers would be trading Rodgers to another NFC team. That makes this potential move less likely, but there are plenty of reasons why it could make sense.
For starters, Green Bay would be rebuilding. By the time it’s back to the top of the NFC, Rodgers would be nearer to retirement. Then there’s the fact Philadelphia owns three first-round picks, all inside the top 20. If there is a bidding war for Rodgers, the Eagles have a lot they can offer in this year’s draft.
Why would it make sense for Rodgers?
Well, the Eagles were a playoff team in 2021. They have a dominant offensive line and led the league in rushing, although a big part of that was due to Jalen Hurts. They also had a top-10 defense.
The Eagles have less cap room than the other two teams in this article — $11.42 million, per Over The Cap — but restructuring deals could help push that number up. That’s enough to get some free-agent deals done.
Not only is the Eagles’ offensive line among the best, but their defensive front also gets pressure on quarterbacks, which is key to succeeding in the playoffs. According to ESPN, the Eagles were fourth in pass rush win rate this season.
The Packers likely wouldn’t want to trade Rodgers to an NFC team, but considering how many high draft picks they own, it might be too tempting to pass up if the Eagles were interested.
