Packers 2022 mock draft featuring Aaron Rodgers, Davante Adams trades
The trades
Other teams may come in for Rodgers, but a move to the Denver Broncos just seems to be the best landing spot for everyone. The Broncos have seemingly hired everyone on Rodgers’ Christmas card list, while they also have a roster that looks to be a QB away from competing. Add in the necessary cap space to take on Rodgers’ deal and then sign free agents, and it could get very interesting should Denver trade for the reigning MVP.
The Packers would prefer to see him playing for an AFC team rather than an NFC rival, and Denver also has the draft resources to set up Green Bay’s rebuild.
Here, the Packers bring back the Broncos’ 2022 first-round pick and their two second-rounders. That’s the ninth, 40th, and 64th overall selections. They would also receive picks in the opening two rounds of the 2023 draft.
In return, Denver gets the MVP QB it needs, along with a fifth-rounder this year.
A possibility would be the Packers franchise-tagging Davante Adams and then exploring trade options. Even on a franchise tag, there should be plenty of interest from around the league. A future team could negotiate a long-term deal with Adams before the trade is official so Adams gets the deal he wants with his new team.
Here, Adams becomes Rodgers’ AFC West rival with the Las Vegas Raiders. It costs the Raiders a first-round pick, but that’s well worth it for the best wide receiver in the NFL. Adams is reunited with his Fresno State quarterback Derek Carr as the Raiders make a big-time move with the hope of building on their 2021 playoff season.
With both of these trades, Green Bay enters rebuild mode with three first-round picks.
