2. San Francisco 49ers

The Green Bay Packers already have enough problems trying to eliminate the San Francisco 49ers when the two teams meet in the playoffs. The last thing we need is for the 49ers to add a Pro Bowl pass rusher to their defense.

Niner Noise listed defensive end as the 49ers’ biggest offseason need as they search for a partner for Nick Bosa. You couldn’t ask for a more dominant pass-rush combination than Smith and Bosa.

Since the start of 2019, Smith and Bosa have a combined 50.5 sacks, 118 quarterback hits, and four Pro Bowl selections. And bear in mind that both players missed almost an entire season due to injury during that time.

Whether the 49ers can afford to give Smith the contract he wants is another thing, but if they can make it happen, it would make the Packers’ path to the NFC title that much tougher.

Per ESPN, San Francisco ranked fifth in pass rush win rate last season. Add in a healthy Za’Darius Smith and this could be one of the best defensive fronts in the NFL. The Packers’ offensive line would have all sorts of problems trying to block both Pro Bowl pass rushers.

Signing Smith would be a big-time move for the 49ers.
