2. Add a veteran edge rusher

The Packers did plenty to help the defense in the draft, most notably drafting Quay Walker and Devonte Wyatt in the first round.

However, even after drafting Kingsley Enagbare in the fifth round, edge rusher depth is still a concern.

Enagbare is a talented pass rusher the Packers can develop. Early on, he should compete for the number three or four spot on the depth chart.

Brian Gutekunst also noted that Randy Ramsey is a player that can help the pass rush. He is returning from injury this season.

However, adding a veteran pass rusher could make a massive difference for a win-now team, even just in a backup, part-time role.

Four-time Pro Bowler Justin Houston is still available. He signed an affordable one-year contract with the Baltimore Ravens last season. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, “Houston turned down significantly more money from other teams in order to pursue a championship.”

Perhaps he would be willing to take a similar deal in Green Bay.

Houston showed he can still play. According to Pro Football Reference, he made 4.5 sacks, 17 quarterback hits, and 24 pressures for the Ravens.

As the Packers’ third edge rusher behind Rashan Gary and Preston Smith, Houston could make a huge difference for this defense, just as Whitney Mercilus did before he got hurt last season.

Green Bay has an excellent starting duo at edge rusher and some young talent to develop on the roster. Add in a veteran pass rusher to provide some depth, and look out.
