1. Sign Odell Beckham Jr.

In the draft, Brian Gutekunst went a long way to fixing the Packers’ need at wide receiver.

He traded up for Christian Watson in the second round, then added Romeo Doubs and Samori Toure on Day 3.

Watson has true WR1 potential. In time, he can become a star in Matt LaFleur’s offense. Doubs can help as a deep threat and on special teams, while Toure will compete for a roster spot over the summer.

Along with the free-agent addition of Sammy Watkins, the Packers have good depth at wide receiver.

However, the work shouldn’t be done.

It would be unfair to expect Watson to be a star receiver from Day 1. Not every receiver makes a fast start in the NFL like Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase did. In fact, most don’t. Even Davante Adams took until his third season to start to become the player he is today.

Odell Beckham Jr. could be a difference-maker in January once he returns from injury.

The Packers are clear favorites in the NFC North. They should be a playoff team.

Now imagine adding a player with Beckham’s experience later in the year. He made a huge difference for the Los Angeles Rams in their Super Bowl run, so why not again for the Packers in 2022?

Beckham proved he is still an outstanding wide receiver when healthy.

He stepped up in the postseason with 21 catches for 288 yards and two touchdowns in four playoff games. That included two receptions for 52 yards and a touchdown in the Super Bowl before he got hurt.

It’s unclear when Beckham will be cleared to return. If the Packers can sign him to a team-friendly deal and he returns in time for the playoffs, he could be just what the wide receiver corps needs.
