2. Secondary

Projected starters: Jaire Alexander, Eric Stokes, Rasul Douglas, Adrian Amos, Darnell Savage

Backups: Shemar Jean-Charles, Keisean Nixon, Shawn Davis, Vernon Scott, Tariq Carpenter

The Packers’ defensive line and inside linebackers are high in the power rankings, but the secondary will play a starring role in this defense.

Green Bay’s starting five in the secondary will give opposing quarterbacks nightmares. You won’t find a better cornerback trio than Jaire Alexander, Eric Stokes, and Rasul Douglas. The Packers also have a top-tier starting safety tandem.

Why this group isn’t No. 1 is the depth. The starting five can dominate, but the depth behind them is somewhat concerning.

1. Quarterback

Projected starter: Aaron Rodgers

Backups: Jordan Love, Danny Etling

Aaron Rodgers has won back-to-back MVPs and is still playing some of the best football of his career.

No matter how good the defense is, it’s Rodgers that makes the Packers serious Super Bowl contenders in 2022.

It’s hard to find a quality backup quarterback in the NFL. Jordan Love struggled when he played last year, but he is a former first-round pick still developing his game.

Green Bay has a roster rich in talent. As long as Rodgers is healthy, the Packers will be difficult to stop.
