Injury updates

There were plenty of injury updates on Wednesday. The Packers were without many key players at practice.

That included star offensive linemen David Bakhtiari and Elgton Jenkins, who are on the PUP list.

General manager Brian Gutekunst said that he is “cautiously optimistic” about Bakhtiari, noting that he had another procedure on his knee during the offseason. Gutekunst added that Jenkins is “ahead of schedule” in his recovery from a torn ACL.

According to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky, Christian Watson had minor knee surgery in June, which explains why he is on the PUP list.

Gutekunst did note that it is “nothing long term”.

Sammy Watkins is dealing with a minor injury. Gutekunst expects his injury to be “very short term”.

Another player not practicing was kicker Mason Crosby. According to Rob Demovsky, Crosby “had his right knee scoped two weeks ago”.

The Packers are dealing with a number of injuries going into training camp, but the good news is that they are mostly short-term issues. Hopefully many of the injured players will be able to return to practice in the near future.

In the meantime, there are more opportunities for the players at practice to show what they can do.
