Tyler Goodson – RB3

The Packers could have incredible depth at running back this season. They already boast one of the league’s top duos in Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon. As we’re seeing this summer, the talent behind them on the depth chart looks pretty good, too.

Leading the way is undrafted rookie Tyler Goodson.

I’m pleased to say that Goodson making the 53-man roster was one of my bold predictions before training camp. It no longer feels like a bold prediction, rather a near certainty.

Goodson made an impressive start to the preseason last week.

Goodson’s 12 carries went for 37 yards, and he caught two passes for 24 yards. While he only averaged 3.1 yards per rushing attempt, Goodson looked impressive.

And that has been the story of the summer for the former Iowa running back. Goodson has played well throughout camp, and he was listed as the RB3 on the team’s first unofficial depth chart.

The former first-team All-Big Ten will face competition from Kylin Hill when he returns from injury, but Goodson’s performances give him a real shot of being the RB3, even when Hill is back.

There’s little doubt that Goodson will make the 53-man roster. That was no guarantee entering the summer.

I’m excited to see what’s next from Goodson in preseason week two.
