Packers final 53-man roster predictions following preseason
Tight ends (3)
Robert Tonyan, Marcedes Lewis, Josiah Deguara
The Packers could possibly keep Tyler Davis as the fourth tight end, but he has struggled in the preseason. Matt LaFleur still seems to have confidence in him, so we’ll see, but I think the Packers are better off adding depth elsewhere.
Are Davis’ special teams contributions enough to make the 53? Time will tell.
It could also depend on Robert Tonyan’s status. Tonyan is off the PUP list, so hopefully he’ll be ready to go by Week 1.
For now, I have Green Bay keeping just three tight ends.
Offensive linemen (10)
David Bakhtiari, Jon Runyan, Josh Myers, Zach Tom, Elgton Jenkins, Yosh Nijman, Royce Newman, Jake Hanson, Sean Rhyan, Caleb Jones
David Bakhtiari and Elgton Jenkins are both off the PUP list, which is great news. Whether they will be ready for Week 1 remains to be seen.
For that reason, I have the Packers opting for extra depth along the offensive line.
Zach Tom has been a preseason star and deserves a starting job. Yosh Nijman can start if Bakhtiari or Jenkins isn’t ready. Royce Newman has starting experience, and Jake Hanson is also in the mix at guard.
Caleb Jones has been excellent in the preseason and deserves to make the roster.
