Rasheed Walker

For most of the summer, rookie Rasheed Walker looked a million miles away from the 53-man roster. He wasn’t even in the conversation. But if you’re going to pick one game to make a statement in the preseason, make it the last one.

Walker did that. He was outstanding against the Chiefs this week. According to Pro Football Focus, Walker didn’t allow a single pressure on 33 pass-block snaps.

The Packers will certainly take notice of that.

Walker has missed some time this summer due to injury. Returning and putting in a performance like that will help his chances.

The Packers may need to lean on their tackle depth early in the season.

While David Bakhtiari and Elgton Jenkins have been activated from the physically unable to perform list, it remains unclear whether either will be ready to play in the season opener against the Minnesota Vikings.

Yosh Nijman would likely be next in line to start, and rookie Zach Tom has also taken reps at tackle this summer.

But keeping Walker on the roster would make sense. He was a draft pick. If the Packers find a roster spot, they can continue his development as a backup, and he can also provide some extra depth at the position.
