WR Tyler Lockett

The dream of trading for DK Metcalf effectively ended after he signed a three-year, $72 million extension with the Seattle Seahawks.

But there’s another Seahawks wide receiver that should interest the Packers: Tyler Lockett.

Lockett is one of the best deep threats in football. Since 2018, he had made 324 receptions for 4,386 yards and 36 touchdowns, averaging a healthy 13.5 yards per catch. But with Russell Wilson gone, Lockett has made a quiet start to the 2022 season.

The three-time All-Pro could be a difference-maker for the Packers. He has put up over 1,000 yards receiving in each of the past three seasons and has at least eight touchdown catches every year since 2018.

The Seahawks are in rebuild mode after trading Wilson and moving on from Bobby Wagner this offseason. Lockett still has four years remaining on his deal, but he turns 30 next week.

A trade could make sense for both teams. The Seahawks bring back a draft pick or two for a top receiver about to turn 30, while the Packers add an experienced, talented receiver who can help them push for a Super Bowl.

Brian Gutekunst and Seahawks GM John Schneider worked together in Green Bay and have made some draft-day trades in recent years. Maybe they can make another deal this season.
