The Packers have a special teams?

What a world we live in. For the third week in a row, Green Bay’s special teams had no major mistakes. Not only that, the Packers were, dare I say, good on special teams against the Bucs.

We have to start with Pat O’Donnell. It turns out his right boot is a rocket.

Punting seven times, O’Donnell averaged 48.4 yards with a long of 63 yards. An impressive five punts pinned the Buccaneers inside their own 20. We can praise the defense all day, but O’Donnell also deserves credit for regularly giving Green Bay the field-position advantage.

O’Donnell is just so consistent. He was also helped by the coverage.

The Bucs returned three punts, with the longest picking up 16 yards. But the other two punts went for a combined 10 yards. Rudy Ford has made a huge difference on special teams.

Amari Rodgers looked comfortable. He had a big punt return called back on a questionable penalty. His only mistake was calling a fair catch when he had green grass in front of him to make a return.

It was a solid overall effort from the Packers’ special teams. Rich Bisaccia has already led this team to significant improvements on the past few seasons. Long may it continue.
