7 biggest takeaways from Packers’ loss to Bills in Week 8
Romeo Doubs steps up
The wide receiver position continues to be placed under the spotlight in Green Bay, and it sure didn’t help that the offense was without Randall Cobb, Allen Lazard, and Christian Watson.
Veteran Sammy Watkins struggled, making just one catch for three yards against his former team.
In need of some help from one of the young wide receivers, Aaron Rodgers targeted fourth-round rookie Romeo Doubs, and he stepped up.
Doubs led the Packers in receiving with four catches, 62 yards, and a touchdown. He made one of the team’s touchdown catches of the year.
Doubs made a number of impressive receptions on Sunday night, showing his ability to make contested catches.
“I thought Romeo made some unbelievable plays in this game,” said Matt LaFleur following the game. “That touchdown catch he made was fantastic.”
Doubs has been inconsistent this season, which is to be expected from a rookie, but his potential is clear. When given opportunities, he regularly steps up and makes plays.
Hopefully, Doubs’ play on Sunday night will continue to earn Aaron Rodgers’ trust and will lead to more targets in the coming weeks.
When the Packers needed a play against the Bills, it was their fourth-round rookie regularly stepping up and making something happen.
