Aaron Rodgers puts in his worst performance of the season

Aaron Rodgers hasn’t been helped this season, of that there is no doubt. The Packers’ front office deserves a ton of blame for letting key players like Davante Adams, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Billy Turner, and Lucas Patrick leave the building without adequately replacing them.

But the reigning back-to-back MVP also deserves his share of the blame. He was nowhere near good enough on Sunday.

Rodgers completed just 23 of his 43 passes for 291 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions. That gave him a passer rating of 53.5.

And let’s not forget that this came against a Lions defense ranked 32nd in the league.

Rodgers under-threw a bunch of throws, including a fourth-and-goal pass to David Bakhtiari. Yes, David Bakhtiari. It led to an interception.

Would Rodgers be closer to his MVP best had he been better supported this season? No doubt. But the days of Rodgers elevating the play of those around him appear to be over.

Rodgers has seven interceptions in nine games. He hasn’t thrown that many picks in an entire season since 2016. At this pace, he’ll throw 13 interceptions this season, which would be the most since his first year as a starter back in 2008.

Rodgers hasn’t played well this season. This was his worst performance of the year.
