Time waits for no one.

In 2015, the Green Bay Packers had one foot on the plane to Arizona for Super Bowl XLIX. They had the Seattle Seahawks on the ropes, awaiting an inevitable knockout punch to send the Packers to the big game.

We all remember what happened next.

Russell Wilson has rolled back the clock and handed Aaron Rodgers another last-gasp defeat. He didn't steal a Super Bowl berth this time, but an ideal landing spot. For weeks, the New York Giants' QB1 job was Rodgers'. All he had to do was say yes.

Wilson has made Rodgers' decision for him. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Giants have signed Wilson to a one-year deal, where he joins recently signed Jameis Winston and leaves no room at the inn for Rodgers.

With the Minnesota Vikings already out on Rodgers, it leaves the four-time MVP with only one destination.

Russell Wilson signing puts pressure on Aaron Rodgers to avoid a doomsday scenario

It's a wake-up call for Rodgers. Even if the Giants weren't his preferred destination, he has now lost another landing spot. He won't get the opportunity to stay in New York, throw to Malik Nabers, and aim to finally lift the Giants back into relevancy.

Rodgers met with the Pittsburgh Steelers last week, but that's it. There's nowhere else to go.

New York found its quarterback. Minnesota is moving forward with J.J. McCarthy. The Las Vegas Raiders and Seattle Seahawks added veterans this offseason. Matthew Stafford's new deal with the Los Angeles Rams closed another door for Rodgers.

The Tennessee Titans? They have rolled out the red carpet for Cam Ward. The Cleveland Browns?! Yep, good luck with that.

It's Pittsburgh or nothing.

If the Steelers pivot to another quarterback, Rodgers' indecisiveness may have cost him his NFL career. The Giants' job was likely his if he wanted it. The Steelers' too. But Mike Tomlin now has the leverage to push Rodgers for a decision.

The Packers legend had made a habit of delaying his decision in recent offseasons, but this time, it could cost him.

If Rodgers isn't careful, the lights of his glittering NFL career may go out for good, forcing him into the only darkness retreat he wants no part of.
