The Green Bay Packers will kick off their annual minicamp this week and it means the deadest time of the football calendar is approaching. Between the conclusion of this week's minicamp and the beginning of training camp at the end of July, football fans will be starving for content and debates over roster battles, which has led to the annual tradition of NFL Network beginning theirTop 100 Players series in 2011.

This year's edition, which is decided by a player vote, began with a teaser released on Monday asking several players who they think will be No. 1 on the list. While several were featured, Packers edge rusher Micah Parsons may have had the most controversial answer when he replied "Iceman," in reference to Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams.

Naturally, Bears fans have taken that clip and run with it, claiming that Parsons has more faith in the quarterback of his biggest rival than his teammate Jordan Love. But Parsons may have also been framed, creating unnecessary smoke for a rivalry that has heated up in the past year.

Micah Parsons had no reason to say Caleb Williams was better than Jordan Love

Parsons's clip seems pretty cut and dry, but it may have been taken out of context. The producer at the beginning of the clip begins by asking Las Vegas Raiders star Maxx Crosby who he thinks will be No. 1 on the list this year. While it is implied that it is the same question, it could be a string of the clearest answers in their footage, which led to Parsons saying "Iceman" with no additional context.

It's also worth noting it was a question of who they think will be No. 1 as opposed to who should be No. 1. While Parsons gave Williams as his answer, it may have been because he thought his peers would be voting for him after he led Chicago to its first division title since 2018 and their first playoff victory since 2010. With Williams recently being named the cover athlete for Madden NFL 27, it would make sense if he finished first in a player vote, making Parsons's answer as valid as saying "I don't know, tell me."

But the biggest reason of all is a question of "Why would he say that?"

Williams is the quarterback of their biggest rival and one that fans want to see beat even more after last year's pair of losses that derailed a 9-3-1 start to the season. On top of that, Bears head coach Ben Johnson went viral for a frosty handshake with Matt LaFleur after that game to run into the locker room and scream "F*** the Packers," which had to eat at Parsons, who missed the two games the Bears beat the Packers last year.

There's also the locker room dynamic of his comments. If he believes Williams is the best player in the league, it would speak volumes about Jordan Love, who had a strong but not spectacular season in 2025 (which could also be another reason why Parsons said what he said).

At the end of the day, Parsons may have been going with the bit and acknowledging the momentum Williams has after his two wins over the Packers. But it could also motivate him to make sure he doesn't wind up toward the top again, as he potentially will make his season debut against Williams and the Bears in Week 5.
