Jordan Love gives most encouraging update yet on Week 9 status
At this point, maybe we should all just ignore every Jordan Love update until Sunday.
It's been a week. On Sunday, Love suffered a groin injury early in Week 8's win over Jacksonville, and he had to be pulled from the game early in the third quarter. The team wasn't initially aware of how serious his injury could be, and Matt LaFleur put the fear of god in everyone afterwards when he said there was a 'high level of concern' about Love's availability going forward.
Then, fast-forward a few days, and NFL Network reported that Love avoided any serious injury. That was (supposedly) news to LaFleur, who kinda half-denied the report, but really just made a point to say that any final word on Love's status would come from the team, not Ian Rapoport.

After that was Wednesday's practice, which was conspicuously absent of Love – and Jaire Alexander, among others – during the session that was open to media. It's like a will-they-won't-they TV show arc, except instead of it being a sitcom it's the most important position in the biggest game of the Packers' season. Fortunately, we finally got to hear from Love on Wednesday, and it sounds like things are trending in the right direction.
Jordan Love thinks playing against Lions in Week 9 is realistic
"Definitely feeling better," Love said. "I think every day, there's going to be some improvements to it. But it definitely feels better than it did on Sunday ... I think [playing against the Lions on Sunday] is realistic. Obviously not practicing during the week is not the ideal format for trying to play the game, but like I said, things happen. That's the scenario – I know I'll be fine. But definitely not the ideal scenario for going into a big week."
I'm exhausted, so this feels like a good place to stop. And that's not just because Love more-or-less came out and confirmed that he'd be playing against the Lions – I just simply can't take the emotional stress of quarterback drama changing twice a day, every day.
There is too much else going on [gestures everywhere] to also have to worry about whether or not Love's going to play this Sunday. If he says it's realistic, that's good enough for me.
