The competition for the NFL’s Most Valuable Player award is a stiff as ever. Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, and Lamar Jackson always seem to be at the forefront of the conversation, with players like Joe Burrow and even Brock Purdy looming if their teams can rebound.

Still, the Green Bay Packers have a rich history with the NFL’s MVP award. The franchise has seen more players win the award than any other in the NFL, with 10 total. Certainly, after Aaron Rodgers left the team, fans knew there would be some time before the next MVP was crowned in Green Bay.

But one former NFL general manager believes the wait is over because a Packer will walk away with the award after the 2025 season concludes.

One NFL insider thinks the MVP talk starts now for Jordan Love

ESPN NFL front office insider Mike Tannenbaum proclaimed on Monday’s edition of Get Up that he thinks Jordon Love is a lock to win the MVP award.

“Jordan Love will win the MVP,” Tannenbaum said. “Look, you take away three or four throws from last year, he was right there.”

“This is Jordan Love’s year.”

Love has had two solid seasons as the full-time starter in Green Bay, but he hasn’t quite taken the next step toward being mentioned among the NFL’s elite class of quarterbacks. His first season was more productive than his second as he topped 4,000 yards and 30 touchdowns. Still, he threw 11 interceptions both years.

Of course, if Love can put together a 4,000-yard season with around 40 touchdowns while cutting back on the turnovers, he’d be a strong candidate statistically. Such a stat line would stand out especially since his receiving corps is so young and lacks a truly elite threat, though someone like Jayden Reed would feasibly have a breakout season if Love is putting up those numbers.

Stats aren’t the only indicator of an MVP, though. Love also needs to get the Packers to double-digit wins, something he hasn’t accomplished yet since he was out for two of Green Bay’s wins last season. His case would be even stronger if the Packers push the Detroit Lions for the top of the NFC North and, subsequently, the top of the conference.

Of course, just mentioning Detroit shows how difficult such an accomplishment will be. The Packers are no doubt playoff contenders, but reaching Super Bowl contender status while facing the league’s fifth-toughest schedule won’t be easy.

But doing so is exactly how a player like Love takes that leap and becomes a contender for the award.
