The Green Bay Packers have a huge opportunity on Thursday Night Football.
While the Detroit Lions haven't lost since Week 2 and have been the best team in football this season, the Packers have a chance to cause an upset. Not only is Jordan Love playing his best football of the year (during Toyotathon, no less), but the Lions have a huge injury problem.
They have ruled out four players, including three defensive linemen and left tackle Taylor Decker. They join a long list of inactive players, with 18 on injured reserve. Few teams have endured worse injury luck than Detroit has in recent weeks.
Nothing proves their tough situation more than their gameday roster moves.
Lions elevating Jamal Adams to play against Packers highlights their injury woes
The Lions signed veteran safety Jamal Adams to their practice squad four days ago. They already need him to play and have elevated him to their gameday roster.
Adams has played a grand total of 13 games over the past three seasons. Since March, the Seattle Seahawks and Tennessee Titans have released him. While he is a former All-Pro safety, Adams hasn't played at that level since 2020. Last season, he earned a PFF grade of just 54.9 and missed 15 tackles in only nine games.

The Lions had to do something. They are dealing with injuries across their front seven, particularly at linebacker. According to Jared Ramsey of the Detroit Free Press, Adams has taken practice reps at linebacker, not safety. And that's where the Lions need help after losing Alex Anzalone, Malcolm Rodriguez, and Derrick Barnes.
It's unclear how many snaps Adams will get, but the Packers should test him at any opportunity. He could line up alongside Kwon Alexander, who also only joined the team this week following the Lions' run of injuries at linebacker.
Adams has barely played over the past few seasons and won't have had enough time to fully learn the scheme. If he has to play a significant role on Thursday night, it gives the Packers a big advantage. They could target the middle of the field, which could lead to big games for Jayden Reed and Tucker Kraft.
The Lions have been hit hard by injuries, especially on defense, and the Packers must use that to their advantage in a huge matchup on Thursday Night Football. They have a big chance for an upset win.
