There have been plenty of narratives written about the Green Bay Packers offense this offseason, but one of the unsettled topics is that of wide receiver Romeo Doubs and whether he's going to be traded.

With the drafting of Matthew Golden and Savion Williams, many predicted Doubs to be the odd man out via trade. However, head coach Matt LaFleur may have just hinted that Doubs is indeed part of this team's future.

"We were out there earlier today and I went over to tell Matthew (Golden) something about one of his routes," LaFleur told Kay Adams. "I was just about to start talking and then Romeo Doubs grabbed him and started talking to him,"

As the Packers gear up for OTAs and, ultimately, training camp, it will be interesting to see how long Doubs sticks on the roster.

Romeo Doubs is embracing a leadership role within the Packers' wide receiver room

If LaFleur's words are to be taken with more than just a grain of salt, then Doubs has reestablished himself as an integral part of that group. Whether it's on the field via production, or in a mentor role, he is proving his worth.

"It's been pretty cool to watch the veterans ... just how they've embraced those guys (the rookies)," LaFleur said.

Maybe, the drafting of Golden and Williams was exactly what Doubs needed to bring this side out of him. LaFleur seems to like what he's seeing out of Doubs' leadership skills:

"It's important to develop the leadership that's needed."

Doubs' presence might end up being much-needed in the end. With Christian Watson still recovering from his injury, the team could need Doubs early on, especially if the rookies are still learning and developing.

That said, if the right team offered the right price, a trade shouldn't be fully out of the question. By this time, next year, he'll likely be on another team, regardless.
