The Green Bay Packers' shocking trade for Micah Parsons is among the most historic in NFL history.
Parsons only needed one day to provide another memorable moment. The No. 1 jersey is among the most prestigious and famous in franchise history. While it isn't officially retired, no Packers player has worn it since the legendary Curly Lambeau almost a century ago.
That's about to change. Parsons narrowed his choices to No. 0 or No. 1, and he has now revealed he will wear Lambeau's famous jersey number.
"Yeah, No. 1. I'm going with No. 1," Parsons said in his introductory press conference.
Micah Parsons will be the first Packers player to wear the No. 1 jersey since Curly Lambeau
Many players have wanted the famous No. 1 jersey, including at least two currently on the roster. Jayden Reed initially announced he would take that number after the 2023 NFL Draft, but that swiftly shifted to No. 11. Christian Watson wore No. 1 in college but moved to No. 9 in Green Bay.
And it's due to Reed that Parsons is changing. He wore No. 11 for the Cowboys, but with that option unavailable, he will wear the No. 1 jersey.

Presumably, the Packers have cleared it. And if there were ever a moment to "unretire" the famous No. 1, why not now? Green Bay just made a rare trade for a pass-rusher on a Hall-of-Fame trajectory. It's a franchise-altering move.
Parsons joined Packers legend Reggie White as only the second player in NFL history to record 12-plus sacks in their first four seasons. That's how dominant a start Parsons has made to his NFL career. He aims to add to his four Pro Bowls and three All-Pros in Green Bay.
Parsons only needed one day to make some franchise history. The Packers hope it's the first time of many.
