Will Jacobs get his wish?

One of the hotter topics among Green Bay Packers fans lately has continued to be the comments made by running back Josh Jacobs just a couple of weeks ago.

He was asked what he believes the team needs to do this offseason, and Jacobs did not hesitate with one of his top answers to the question.

Jacobs commented on the team's current wide receiver group and how he views the room as lacking a true no. 1 option. The comments created quite the stir with some fans and even within his own locker room. But, he wasn't wrong with his sentiment.

Many fans agreed, though, noting the offense was indeed lacking a legitimate alpha in the receiver room. This offseason, the Packers have an opportunity to address the position, and ESPN NFL insider Dan Graziano included this notion in his latest column.

"... with Jacobs himself recently saying he would like them to get a real No. 1 WR, it's fair to wonder if this might be the year," he wrote.

The Packers will prioritize the wide receiver position, but will not overpay or reach in the draft

Green Bay kind of broke the mold last year, in free agency, when they signed Jacobs along with safety Xavier McKinney. Typically, this franchise doesn't spend up on big name free agents. But, that seems to be a thing of the past if recent history tells us anything.

Now, will they continue that trend for a second year in a row, and particularly at the wide receiver room? Graziano thinks it's possible, however, he notes the Packers will be smart about it.

"The Packers will pounce if they see an opportunity in free agency, but they won't go into it thinking about star power," Graziano explained.

More Packers news:

With Tee Higgins likely sticking around in Cincinnati after the latest report surfaced, and Tampa Bay working on a new deal with Chris Godwin, free agent options already appear to be dwindling.

Could Green Bay be interested in players like Amari Cooper or Stefon Diggs? How about a Cooper Kupp trade? There are still options, but the team must be careful not to overspend on any of those names. Kupp might be the best option, overall, but health is always a question in his case.

In the draft, the Packers might have an outside chance at the no. 2 wide receiver prospect, Luther Burden, and could potentially snag Ohio State's Emeka Egbuka at no. 23 overall. But, is it worth spending a first-round pick on a wide receiver?

Free agency is less than a month away and the draft just over two months from now. We're inching closer to answers.
