The Green Bay Packers may soon find themselves with some bonus capital in the 2026 NFL Draft, and even if they're only 7th-round picks on paper, they can still be used to bring in important players.
Not every draft pick is going to turn out to be an All-Pro. Not every draft pick is going to become a longtime starter. But one of the best ways you can spend draft capital is on the quarterback position. There is obviously a limit to that, but the Packers are entering an offseason where they're set to lose backup quarterback Malik Willis in free agency.
Jordan Love has missed some time over the past couple of years, so that backup QB spot is important. And with the potential of adding a couple of 7th-round compensatory picks in the 2026 NFL Draft, perhaps Packers GM Brian Gutekunst can swing another trade with the Tennessee Titans for a backup.
Packers should look to make a trade for Will Levis to be Jordan Love's backup in 2026
After becoming a weekly meme during the 2024 season, Will Levis sat out the entire 2025 season due to injury. After the Titans picked Cam Ward 1st overall in the 2025 NFL Draft, it was clear that Levis would not be long for the Titans.
With just one year left on his rookie contract and a base salary of just $1.145 million, Levis should be considered extremely "available" this offseason after recovering from AC joint surgery in his throwing shoulder.
The Packers swung a trade with the Tennessee Titans in the past for Malik Willis, giving up just a future 7th-round pick as compensation. Perhaps history could repeat itself and the Packers could trade for Levis to be Jordan Love's backup in 2026, possibly even beyond that.
Levis has a big arm, he's athletic, and he's got a gunslinger mentality. Obviously, things did not go well for him when he got the chance to start for the Titans, but that organization was in a really rough situation when he was starting games, and the Packers have proven their infrastructure is much better for quarterbacks like this.
Levis, just like Malik Willis, could really thrive under head coach Matt LaFleur. He could rehab his image. And the Packers could spend a 7th-round compensatory pick now to possibly receive something even better down the line.

With Willis, the Packers could benefit tremendously. In two seasons, he had a completion rate at nearly 79 percent with six passing touchdowns and three rushing touchdowns. No interceptions. The way Willis played could earn him a contract on the open free agent market that will give Green Bay a nice compensatory pick in 2027.
The team should be thinking the same way with someone like Levis. And with Sam Darnold winning the Super Bowl, these types of quarterbacks are definitely en vogue. There is a lot of upside to a move like this, and virtually no downside.
There might not be a better way for the Packers to use some extra NFL Draft capital than to reach out to the Titans for a backup quarterback again.
