1. Will this be the last season of this running back combo in Green Bay?

A heavy workload increase and reliance on the combination of Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon feels like a given in 2023. But will it be a one-and-done year for this setup?

Paying running backs is always a risky proposition, and Dillon is set to become a free agent after the year as his contract is set to expire. While Dillon did provide some insight and state his desire to remain in Green Bay long term, his willingness to pick up long-snapping duties may not be enough to keep him in a Packers uniform after this year.

Considering that Green Bay is set to pay Jones over $11 million in 2024, that severely lessens the likelihood that the current Packers backfield arrangement and usage splits lasts beyond this season.

What it comes down to is long-term financial commitments and properly building an entire roster. Allocating large amounts of money to two running backs is a very antiquated way of thinking and it is not in line with modern football ideology.

There is a right way and a wrong way to properly surround a young unproven quarterback with talent, and spending heavily on a devalued position would count as the wrong way. Barring unforeseen changes, this certainly seems like the last year that the combo of Jones and Dillon will be together in Green Bay.
