5 free agents Packers should sign after NFL Draft: QB Teddy Bridgewater

Drafting Sean Clifford in the fifth round shouldn't end the Packers' search for a backup quarterback. We shouldn't assume the No. 2 QB job is Clifford's, even if he was a draft pick. Clifford could end up as the No. 3 or practice squad quarterback, especially if the Packers signed a veteran.

Bringing in a quarterback with starting experience could make a huge difference. Jordan Love has been able to watch and learn from Aaron Rodgers for the past three seasons, but he now enters his first year as a starter. Having an experienced quarterback alongside him and helping guide him through his first season would be beneficial for Love.

Teddy Bridgewater was the Miami Dolphins' backup quarterback last season. It's a role he's familiar with. Bridgewater is a talented player who can step in and help the team win games if Love has to miss any time.

And having started 65 regular-season games for five different teams, Bridgewater has so much experience to draw from, and that can help Love a lot as he learns the role of QB1.

Bridgewater would be an affordable free-agent addition for the Packers. He can step in and start when needed, but he would also help Love's development this season.
