5 free agents Packers should sign after NFL Draft: DT Poona Ford

The Packers have done a nice job of strengthening their defensive line depth this offseason. Colby Wooden and Karl Brooks both have starting potential and offer a ton of upside as interior pass rushers. However, outside of Kenny Clark, the Packers lack experience along the defensive line.

Having lost two veteran starters in Jarran Reed and Dean Lowry this offseason, Devonte Wyatt and T.J. Slaton are now two of the Packers' most experienced defensive linemen. Wyatt was a first-round pick only last year, while Slaton has made just two starts in his first two seasons in the league.

Wooden and Brooks will contribute right away, but they will likely begin as backups.

Adding an experienced starter on a one-year deal would help the Packers' defense. It would also give them another veteran for the young players to learn from.

Poona Ford has 64 career starts over five seasons with the Seattle Seahawks. He would immediately improve a Packers run defense that struggled last year while also helping the pass rush, having made five sacks over the past two seasons in Seattle.

Ford could start next to Kenny Clark and Devonte Wyatt while the Packers' young defensive linemen gain experience in backup roles.
