The Green Bay Packers have a solution to their offensive line issues staring them right in the face.

As a matter of fact, they have a solution that is already on their 2024 salary cap books. Veteran David Bakhtiari is still available and could potentially be signed by the Green Bay Packers, an option that is sounding more and more appealing by the day.

We've brought up a Bakhtiari reunion at different points throughout the offseason, but when the Packers get done evaluating training camp and the preseason, they might find that bringing the five-time All-Pro back into the fold isn't the worst idea possible. And keep in mind, Bakhtiari is already counting over $18 million in dead money on the salary cap for the Packers this year.

If you've already got such a significant chunk of the salary cap pie allocated to this guy, why not bring him back onto the roster and see if he can help you?

Things don't always work out like that in the NFL, but in the case of the Packers and Bakhtiari, a reunion makes sense. First of all, we've all seen enough of Andre Dillard and Kadeem Telfort to know that we'd probably prefer the alternative of Bakhtiari at this point. And if Bakhtiari is healthy, the Packers may legitimately be better off with him at the left tackle spot, Zach Tom at right tackle, and Rasheed Walker as the swing option.

Bringing back David Bakhtiari makes so much sense for the Packers

As of right now, the Packers are having internal conversations about whether or not to keep Royce Newman on the 53-man roster. You're telling me that you can talk yourself into keeping Newman on the roster but you can't be talked into bringing Bakhtiari back in the mix?

Bakhtiari has made it clear that he wants to play this upcoming season. He even stated that he wants to block for the Super Bowl MVP. Well, why can't that be Jordan Love when all is said and done?

Ultimately, bringing Bakhtiari back has little to do with sentiment and everything to do with the Packers assembling the best offensive line they possibly can. They've had to spend time throughout the offseason program without starters Zach Tom, Josh Myers, and Rasheed Walker. Seeing Andre Dillard and Kadeem Telfort taking as many reps as they have has really only confirmed that the Packers need to get back in touch with Bakhtiari about a reunion.

This is one move the Packers need to make before the start of the 2024 regular season. Not that they are running out of time, as there has been really no traction toward Bakhtiari signing elsewhere, but his best chance of helping this team is going to likely include getting out on the practice field as soon as possible.

The clock is ticking and with every passing moment, bringing Bakhtiari back makes more and more sense.
