Former NFL lineman questions Packers' decision to rush Jordan Love back after injury

Does he have a point?

The Green Bay Packers are preparing to face the Tennessee Titans in Week 3 and might have Jordan Love back in the lineup. This would be a huge deal, as it went from looking like a brutal injury for Love to now the Packers potentially already having their franchise quarterback back in the starting lineup.

Matt LaFleur floated the idea of Love returning as early as last week against the Indianapolis Colts, but Malik Willis got the start. Willis, the run game, and the defense helped ensure that Green Bay wouldn't start 0-2 and got the win.

Winning that game is why former NFL offensive lineman Geoff Schwartz thinks the Packers should let Love rest for another week.

Schwartz wrote on X: "Don't get the purpose of rushing [Love] back. [The Packers] got a win last week. If [the Packers] lose this week because Love isn't back you've still "won" the time he missed going 1-1."

Schwartz does make a decent point here. If the Packers had lost to the Colts last week, then rushing Love back this week might have made sense, but that's not what happened. The Packers are 1-1 and only the Minnesota Vikings have a better record than them in the NFC North after two weeks. That's not a bad situation to be in despite losing their starting quarterback.

Geoff Schwartz argues that Packers shouldn't rush Jordan Love back

The Packers face the 0-2 Titans this week and if Love can't go, it'll be Willis starting against his old team, which he doesn't seem to care about at all. The Titans' defense has played well in the team's two losses and it'll be an aggressive unit that will come after whoever is playing quarterback for the Packers. Is it worth it to have Love out there against a tough defense when he's not 100%?

The Packers beat the Colts without Love, so who's to say they can't beat another AFC South in Week 3 without their starting signal-caller? Even if they don't and end up losing to the Titans, being 1-2 wouldn't be the end of the world. It'd give Love another week to heal before the Packers' big matchup with the Vikings in Week 4 with the chance to get back to .500 on the year.

This is a big decision for the Packers to make, but fans know LaFleur will do what's best for Love ahead of Week 3.
