5 players the Packers could trade during draft season
4. Royce Newman, OL
If you ask Green Bay Packers fans, Royce Newman might not have much trade value. But a one-year rental along the offensive line with 24 career starts at just over $3 million in base salary?
That might entice a lot of teams around the league, especially because Newman has played both tackle and guard dating back to his collegiate days at Ole Miss. Newman is clearly a backup only at this point, but teams don't always have quality backups with starting experience, and they might value a player like this.
It may only be for a late-round pick, but offensive linemen with experience are typically valued a decent amount by at least one other team, and Newman could probably fetch the Packers at least a seventh.
5. Samori Toure, WR
There are so many good receivers on the Packers' roster, it would almost be wild if they didn't find a way to trade one away during the 2024 NFL Draft. You expect Brian Gutekunst and Matt LaFleur are going to fall in love with at least one guy in this year's draft, and there's just not a lot of room on the roster for these guys.
The Packers have an embarrassment of riches at the position right now, and they might start looking to maximize the value of that group by getting something while they still can. You can "insert name here" whether it's Samori Toure, Christian Watson, Bo Melton, Malik Heath...The Packers definitely don't need to trade them all but they need to help these players maximize their own value as well, especially if they snag some other playmakers in this year's draft.
