With the 87th pick of the 2025 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers selected Savion Williams, a wide receiver out of TCU. Packers fans were even more elated for this pick after the team had spent its first-rounder on a wide receiver, doubling up on weapons for Jordan Love for the 2025 season.

Williams spent five years with the Horned Frogs and put up career-highs during his final year with them in 2024, racking up 60 catches for 611 yards and six trips into the end zone. The Packers needed to add help at wide receiver and they made sure to do it in the draft.

As for Williams, he was fired up about being drafted by the Packers. While speaking to the media last week, Williams said Green Bay was where he wanted to end up.

"The whole week before the draft, everyone was always asking, 'If there's one team you would get picked by, who would you want to get picked by?' I told them it would be Green Bay," Williams said.
"Knowing I'd be in Green Bay was just a dream, man."

When Williams was asked what about the Packers made him want to end up with them, he responded,
"Matt LaFleur, man. When I was a kid, it was watching Aaron Rodgers. It's a dream, man."

Packers fans will love Savion Williams' latest comments

Williams wanted to play for the Packers because of his respect for Matt LaFleur and that's pretty awesome to hear. While he also loved watching Aaron Rodgers, the fact that he also gave LaFleur a shoutout shows that young players want to be a part of LaFleur's team and that's cool to see.

The Packers now look to be stacked at wide receiver with the starting trio consisting of Romeo Doubs, rookie first-rounder Matthew Golden, and Jayden Reed with Williams, Christian Watson, and Dontayvion Wicks as depth pieces for Love to throw to. It should prepare the Packers for if a slew of injuries occurs at the position but obviously we should hope that doesn't end up happening.

Williams is clearly psyched about being a member of the Green Bay Packers and Packers fans are happy to welcome him in. Let's hope he balls out in his rookie year.
